HC Deb 02 November 1988 vol 139 c646W
Mr. Pendry

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many exclusion orders have been issued for football-related incidents since August 1987.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Since 1 August 1987 the Football Association has recorded 1,089 exclusion orders.

Mr. Pendry

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many attendance orders have been issued for football-related incidents(a) between August 1986 and 1987 and (b) since August 1987.

Mr. John Patten

Information is not collected centrally on convictions and sentencing for football-related offences. The number of attendance centre orders made in the 12 months ended 31 August 1987 was 10,518; in the four months from 1 September to 31 December that year it was 2,983. Figures for 1988 are not yet available. Because sessions are usually held on Saturday afternoons, the attendance centre order continues to be a useful penalty for some football hooligans.
