HC Deb 02 November 1988 vol 139 cc646-7W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on co-ordination between the police and the Departments of Employment and Social Security in tracking down people to be arrested or interviewed, in connection with alleged benefit fraud; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

No formal arrangements exist for liaison with the police in cases involving benefit fraud, where the usual course of action is for the Departments of Employment and of Social Security to investigate and, where appropriate, to proceed by means of a summons.
