§ Mr. Nicholls[holding answer 26 May 1988]: Following the accident the mines and quarries inspectorate carried out a comprehensive review of all scotch derrick cranes in use at quarries. The review included advice to owners on proper procedures to establish whether or not critical components were made of cast iron.
