To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will list the current population of each regional health authority in the United Kingdom.

Estimates of resident populations in mid-1986 are listed in the table. Figures relating to mid-1987 will be available shortly.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what projections of population growth his Department are using for planning purposes over the next five years in the South East Thames region, and for each of the Kent health authorities.

It is for the South East Thames regional health authority to plan services for that region making use of available population projections such as those published by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys.
