HC Deb 27 May 1988 vol 134 c379W
Mr. Wheeler

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he intends to make any changes to the cash limits within his responsibility and to the Department's running cost limit for 1988–89.

Mr. Hurd

The cash limit on the Vote for Home Office administration, miscellaneous and community services and civil defence, England and Wales (Class XI, Vote 3) has been reduced by £2,740,000 from £412,908,000 to £410,168,000. This is because £2.9 million of expenditure expected to fall in 1988–89 was met from Supply Estimates provision in 1987–88. This reduction is partially offset by an increase of £160,000 arising from the transfer from the Department of the Environment of responsibility for the payments to the Post Office for issue of game licences. As a consequence of these changes, the Home Office running cost limit has also been reduced, by £240,000 from £808,039,000 to £807,799,000.
