HC Deb 26 May 1988 vol 134 c338W
Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many fatal casualties there were in 1987 arising from incidents where security forces in Northern Ireland opened fire on vehicles taken without their owners' consent.

Mr. Stanley

There was one such incident in 1987. On 8 May, eight terrorists attacked the RUC station at Loughgall using vehicles which had been hijacked earlier. All the terrorists were killed. An innocent passer-by was also killed during this attack.
