HL Deb 26 May 1988 vol 497 c1095WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Goverment:

Whether by the time of Third Reading of the Education Reform Bill they will make available written criteria for acceptance which the Secretary of State will undertake to use when considering applications by individual schools for grant-aided status.

Baroness Hooper

The Government do not intend to publish criteria against which applications for grant-maintained status will be assessed. As is the case with proposals made under Sections 12 and 13 of the Education Act 1980, the Secretary of State will determine each application on its merits, taking into account all relevant factors, including objections.
