HC Deb 26 May 1988 vol 134 cc331-2W
7. Mr. Hunter

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he will next have meetings with Ministers of the Republic of Ireland; and what subjects he will discuss.

Mr. Tom King

I hope to meet Irish Ministers shortly, at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference. The final agenda is not yet fixed but security co-operation will certainly be one of the subjects and as announced after the last meeting, the problems of west Belfast and other disadvantaged areas will be discussed together with a number of other matters.

The joint statement issued after the last meeting of the Intergovernmental Conference on 4 May sets out the matters discussed. A copy has been placed in the Library.
