HC Deb 26 May 1988 vol 134 c254W
Mr. Nicholas Baker

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish his reasons for requiring that hereditament maps should be sent from provincial offices to the public record office at Kew, London.

Mr. Norman Lamont

The valuation office is required to release these maps to the public record office in accordance with the provisions of the Public Records Act 1958, in order that they may be preserved and form a permanent source of public reference. The public will now be able to examine the maps alongside the relevant field books which are already preserved in the public record office.
