HC Deb 26 May 1988 vol 134 c251W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will establish an inquiry into the circumstances in which unemployed workers have been attracted to the island of Fetlar with offers of jobs renovating old croft houses as part of a £200,000 publicly funded project, only to find on their arrival that no jobs exist; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

This is a matter for the Sheltand Islands council. I understand that the circumstances have already been investigated by the Commissioner for Local Administration and that the Shetland Islands council has his report.
