§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Department has taken measures to reduce under-representation of women in the higher grades and of black and Asian staff. These measures include: women-only development training; advertising opportunities for job-share, part-time work and career breaks; using the ethnic minority press for advertising local vacancies; participating in feature articles to publicise the Department's work; taking part in schools liaison; using inner city job centres and other types of outreach work; and participating in a central training review and promotion monitoring projects.
