Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on how many occasions from 1972 to the current date, members of the security forces have asked civilians(a) to fire on and (b) to attack other members of the security forces or their property.

Mr. Stanley

[holding answer 26 April 1988]: I am not aware of any such occasions. If the hon. Member has evidence of possible offences he will no doubt bring them to the attention of the police.
