HC Deb 25 May 1988 vol 134 c188W
Mr. Galbraith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what information he has on the proposed closure of the pathology department at Ruchill hospital, Glasgow; what effect the closure will have on the treatment of AIDS; and what consultations have taken place with staff.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

I understand that the Greater Glasgow health board is conducting a review of the laboratory services in its area, including the pathology units. No decision will be taken concerning the future of any of the pathology departments, including that at Ruchill, until the outcome of the review is known later this year. The board intends that there will be full consultation with the staff associations.
