HC Deb 25 May 1988 vol 134 cc182-3W
19. Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement about the level of job creation in Scotland over the past five years.

Mr. Lang

Comprehensive figures on the level of job creation in Scotland are not available. However, in the period April 1983 to March 1988, offers of regional selective assistance (RSA) were associated with the creation of 48,000 new jobs, and the safeguarding of a further 32,000 jobs.
