HC Deb 23 May 1988 vol 134 c46W
27. Sir Raymond Gower

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the average time required for decisions in planning appeals; and what progress has been made in reducing the time taken over such appeals, during the past 12 months.

Mr. Grist

In the month of March 1988 inspectors' decisions were issued on 17 appeals which went to inquiry and 68 dealt with by the written method. Median times for these were 32 weeks and 19 weeks, respectively. For March 1987 the comparable figures were nine inquiry cases and 57 written representation cases with medians of 33 weeks and 22 weeks. Average times are not recorded by the Department.
