To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he now expects to bring forward plans for the deregulation of Sunday trading.

As is well known, the Government continue to favour complete deregulation of Sunday trading hours. They are, nevertheless, prepared to consider any practicable compromise short of this if and when a consensus can be achieved.
