HC Deb 17 May 1988 vol 133 c395W
Mrs. Fyfe

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to encourage good health habits in the under-fives.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The primary responsibility for developing healthy habits in young children rests with their parents. We encourage parents to have their infant children immunised against childhood infectious diseases and health education information is directed towards parents on this and other general aspects of child health. All health professionals, doctors, nurses and health visitors play an important part in delivering health messages to parents.
