HC Deb 16 May 1988 vol 133 c309W
Ms. Harman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many baths, showers and lavatories there are for prisoners' use; and how many baths or showers prisoners are allowed per week at each of the following prisons; Birmingham, Leeds, Pentonville, Manchester, Wandsworth, Wormwood Scrubs and Holloway.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

All inmates have a bath or shower on reception and thereafter at least once a week. In addition, those participating in PE, located in hospital units or working in particular parties (kitchen, officers' mess, works department, and so on) will bathe or shower more often. At Holloway, there is normally no restriction on the frequency with which the inmates may bathe or shower.
