HC Deb 16 May 1988 vol 133 c308W
Mr. Hardy

To ask the Secretary of State for the Horne Department if he has any plans to seek to change the powers of the police to deal with the problem of glue sniffing.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

No. The police have adequate powers to deal with those found supplying intoxicating substances in contravention of the Intoxicating Substances (Supply) Act 1985. They have also been given guidance about the options open to them in dealing with glue sniffers in Home Office circular No. 30/84, a copy of which is in the library.
