HC Deb 16 May 1988 vol 133 cc362-3W
Mr. Murphy

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport by how much he expects civil air traffic to increase in the next 10 years.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Information is not available in this form. The Department's forecasts of air traffic for the United Kingdom, published in 1986, estimated demand on a high economic growth scenario at 98.9 million passengers per annum (mppa) in 1990, 132.1 mppa in 1995 and 169.4 mppa in 2000. On a lower economic growth scenario the forecasts were 83.2, 98.1 and 113.8 mppa respectively. We expect to publish new forecasts towards the end of the year.
