§ Mrs. RumboldI understand that the Medical Research Council, which receives its grant-in-aid through this Department, is funding a considerable amount of work in the field of prenatal and neonatal medicine. In 1986–87, the last financial year for which figures are available, the council spent £4.6 million on this research.
