Mr. Gordon Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will publish a breakdown of housing expenditure by household type, income and region to identify(a) gross rates and (b) net rates separately from the family expenditure survey 1986.

The sample size in the family expenditure survey is not large enough to give meaningful figures for the breakdown requested.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) whether he will publish a breakdown of housing expenditure by household type and income identifying(a) gross rates and (b) net rates separately as in table 11 in the family expenditure survey 1986;

(2) whether he will publish a breakdown of housing expenditure to identify (a) gross rates and (b) net rates by region for each type of tenure as in table 29 of the family expenditure survey 1986.
