Mr. John Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what undertakings Coventry Churches housing association has given under its agreement with Coventry district health authority as a condition for the use of the Whitley hospital site to provide the equivalent full hospital care for its patients.

I understand that only those patients who do not require full consultant oversight in NHS hospital facilities will be considered for transfer, under arrangements currently being drawn up, to the care of the Coventry Churches housing association.

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make available to right hon. and hon. Members the documents which define the detailed patient hospital care requirement of the Coventry Churches housing association as a condition of its use of the Coventry Whitley hospital site.

I understand that the patient care policy document, which will form part of a legally binding agreement between Coventry health authority and the Coventry Churches housing association, is currently being put in final form. The document will be available shortly and I will ensure that the hon. Member receives a copy and that a further copy is placed in the Library.
