To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what forecasts he has for the level of new investment in the chemicals industry in 1988.

The Chemical Industry Association's investment intentions survey for 1988 shows that capital spending in the chemical sector in 1988 is expected to rise to £1,740 million, which allowing for inflation is an increase of nearly 19 per cent. on 1987.
