§ Mr. Frank CookTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information he has on the numbers of engineers and scientists employed by the Science and Engineering Research Council, the Cavendish laboratory, the Rutherford-Appleton laboratories and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority for the period 1970 to 1988.
Mr. JacksonInformation on the Cavendish laboratory, which is a component part of the University of Cambridge, is not held centrally and the Government's relationship with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy. The information requested on the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) and its Rutherford Appleton laboratory (RAL) is as follows:
