§ 55. Rev. Martin SmythTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Government of the Republic of Ireland about the implications for counter-terrorist policy of that country's trading links with Libya; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir Geoffrey HoweThe Irish Government are fully alive to the threat posed to both our countries by Libya's active support for terrorism. We have discussed this with them on a number of occasions recently, particularly in the context of increased security co-operation following the seizure of MV Eksund last October which revealed extensive Libyan support for the Provisional IRA.
