HC Deb 04 May 1988 vol 132 c475W
Mr. Shersby

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what progress has been made in assessing the papers relating to the killing of 80 British prisoners of war captured in 1940 near the French village of Wormhoudt, near Dunkirk; what discussions he has had with others on this matter; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department announced on 21 April, we are examining the records relevant to the killing of the British prisoners of war in 1940 near Wormhoudt as a matter of urgency. We are in close touch with other interested Departments.
