To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many young people aged 16 to 18 years were unemployed in the London borough of Lewisham at the latest available date.

Mr. Lee

On 14 January 1988, the number of unemployed claimants in the London borough of Lewisham aged 16 to 18 years was 1,004.

Mr. Fatchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what was the total number of persons under the age of 23 years, by sex, who have been registered as unemployed for(a) less than six months, (b) between six and 12 months and (c) more than 12 months.
