§ Mr. CopeThere were on average about 400,000 young people training on YTS at any one time in 1987. The youth opportunities programme ended in 1983. The latest Manpower Services Commission follow-up surveys of YTS leavers show that of those who completed their training programme between April 1986 and September 1987, 73 per cent. were in work at the time of the surveys.
