To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the number of job vacancies registered at jobcentres in the south-west.

On 5 February 1988, the number of unfilled vacancies, excluding vacancies on the community programme, at jobcentres in the south-west region was 16,758. This represents an increase of 8.7 per cent. since February 1987.
