HC Deb 29 March 1988 vol 130 c429W
52. Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what rights against sex discrimination a woman will have under the Government's proposed new training scheme.

Mr. Nicholls

It is unlawful under section 14 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 for the Manpower Services Commission to discriminate against a woman in the provision of training for employment. Furthermore, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State will be designating the new adult training programme under section 14(2)(d) of the Act. This will render unlawful discrimination by persons providing training on behalf of the Manpower Services Commission.

67. Ms. Mowlam

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment when he expects to announce the findings of the consultative document on the restrictions on the employment of young people and the removal of sex discrimination in legislation.

Mr. Nicholls

I am at present considering with my colleagues the responses we have received to the consultative document. I hope to bring forward appropriate legislation in due course.
