To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the progress of the Training Commission's enterprise in higher education initiative.

Since the launch of the initiative on 9 December 1987 there has been a most pleasing level of institutional interest Four one-day workshops were held for institutions in early February. The total attendance was in excess of 300 with 143 institutions represented. Outline bids for first round funding have been received from 85 institutions. Each institution will be notified shortly about the outcome of its bid.
