HC Deb 24 March 1988 vol 130 c205W
Mr. McAllion

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many YTS trainees in Dundee left the scheme to enrol in another scheme run by a different employer or a different managing agent in the current year.

Mr. Lang

Information is not available in the form requested.

Data are however available from a 100 per cent. survey carried out in the Grampian and Tayside area of all trainees who had left YTS schemes between April 1986 and September 1987. The response rate was just over 50 per cent. Of those 3,912 young people who replied, 530 (13.5 per cent.) had rejoined a YTS scheme. It is not possible to ascertain in any case whether the young person went to a different employer or managing agent.

Mr. McAllion

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons in Dundee have had a benefit penalty applied to them by an adjudication officer for refusing to enter a YTS course or for leaving a YTS course early, for each month since the scheme began.

Mr. Lang

The information is not available in the form requested.

In the city of Dundee for the period from 1 April 1987 to 22 March 1988, a total of 204 young people have had a benefit penalty applied by an adjudicating officer either for refusing a YTS course or for leaving one early.
