HC Deb 24 March 1988 vol 130 c176W
Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is now in a position to announce the details of the inquiry he has decided to set up into discipline in schools.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

[pursuant to his reply, 18 March 1988, c. 687]: I have appointed two further members to the committee of inquiry: Mrs. Colette Thomson, a former member of the England netball team, and now a mathematics teacher at Alderbrook school, west midlands; and following consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales, Mrs. Glenda Thomas, head teacher of Blaencaerau junior school, Maesteg, Mid-Glamorgan.

These appointments complete the membership. My intention is that the committee should start its work as soon as possible and aim to report by the end of the year.
