HC Deb 23 March 1988 vol 130 c131W
Mr. Evennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many complaints he has received since I April 1987 about the reduced level of service on the Woolwich ferry caused by the industrial dispute; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Department has received 10 letters and some 10 telephone calls.

We are concerned about both the poor level of service and the disproportionate cost to the taxpayer. I am meeting the leader of Greenwich borough council in the next few days to assess the likelihood of a successful outcome to the negotiations with its workforce to end the work-to-rule and start a cost-effective and efficient service.
