To ask the Secretary of State for Employment when he expects to introduce legislation removing the discrimination against women in qualifying for redundancy in the light of the case of Cato v Queen Charlotte's special health authority.

On 29 October 1987 my hon. Friend the Minister of State announced his intention to increase the age limit up to which women can receive a statutory redundancy payment from 60 to 65 years as soon as legislative time was available. I am afraid that I cannot he more specific at present.
