§ Mr. BeggsTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many residential places will be provided in homes controlled by the Department of Health and Social Services in 1988–89.
§ Mr. NeedhamHealth and social services boards are responsible for the registration and inspection of private and voluntary residential homes. It is not possible to forecast the number of places which will be provided in the independent residential sector in 1988–89. The critical factors will be the demand for places and the preparedness of independent operators (including voluntary organisations) to provide such places.
