§ Mr. Wyn RobertsAccording to the Wales tourist board the information as at 21 March 1988 is as follows:
Category Number Listed 130 1 crown 46 2 crowns 305 3 crowns 275 4 crowns 177 5 crowns 31 Awaiting classification 16 Total 980 Since the Wales tourist board introduced classification, 55 hotels have failed to meet the criteria, with 11 establishments having been rejected since 1 April 1987.
The Wales tourist board, following wide consultation, has announced its intention to introduce a qualitative grading scheme for hotel and other serviced accommodation by 1990. The new system is similar to that in operation in Scotland, and will supplement the present crown classification scheme under which establishments are classified by available facilities.
