HC Deb 21 March 1988 vol 130 cc10-1W
Mr. Terry Davis

To ask the Secrertary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the answer by the Minister of State, the hon. Member for Mid-Sussex on 22 February,Official Report, column 4, whether the 130 outstanding entry clearance applications included applications which had been referred to his Department by entry clearance officers but had not yet been allocated to an immigration office.

Mr. Renton

The total of 130 outstanding entry clearance applications given in my previous answer referred to those cases which had been received from entry clearance officers abroad and had been passed to the immigration service to arrange interview. The number of applications made abroad which had not reached that stage is not recorded centrally under the location of the sponsors, and information in respect of the Birmingham area is therefore not readily obtainable.
