HC Deb 21 March 1988 vol 130 c10W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to make it a criminal offence to allow an organised pack of hounds To attack cats or dogs, with a range of fines and imprisonment available against the master of such hounds; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

We are concerned about any unnecessary suffering which is caused to domestic animals. However, existing legislation — in particular the Dogs Act 1871, the Town Police Clauses Act 1847. the Metropolitan Police Act 1839—provides for the control of dangerous dogs. We have no plan to introduce further measures.
