HC Deb 21 March 1988 vol 130 c25W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make it his policy that in redesigning logos, and so on for his Department, he will continue to use the historical emblem of the Board of Trade of which the Secretary of State is President.

Mr. Butcher

The historical emblem of the Board of Trade will continue to be used in selected areas where it is particularly appropriate, but in the majority of cases the new DTI logo will be employed. This logo covers all the activities of the Department of Trade and Industry rather than those of just one of the predecessor Departments. It has been introduced to support the major restructuring of DTI policies set out in the White Paper "DTI—the department for Enterprise" which was presented to Parliament on 12 January 1988.
