HC Deb 18 March 1988 vol 129 cc691-2W
Mr. Heddle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in theOfficial Report the percentage of planning applications dealt with by local authorities within the statutory eight-week period at the latest available date; and if he will give figures for comparable periods since 1979.

Mr. Waldegrave

The information requested for the latest available quarter and comparable periods since 1979 are given in the table.

expenditure by local authorities. "Assisted" expenditure is taken to mean Exchequer contributions voted in estimates. Exchequer contributions in respect of assistance to housing associations cannot be disaggregated before 1976–77 as between local authority and Housing Corporation-sponsored schemes. For completeness, the table therefore also includes public and voted expenditure figures in respect of Housing Corporation-sponsored schemes. Information on public expenditure before 1971–72 and on voted expenditure before 1974–75 cannot be made available except at disproportionate cost.
