§ Mr. Rogers
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what progress has been made on deciding on the radar system for the European fighter aircraft; and if he will make a statement.

§ Mr. Sainsbury
As my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces said on 11 February 1988 at column592, revised bids for the EFA radar have been received. The assessment of these bids is in hand, but will take some time and a decision is unlikely until the summer.
