To ask the Secretary of State for Energy (1) for what purpose natural uranium was imported from Durban to Southampton on 28 February 1987; and if that material was under safeguards arrangements;

(2) what is the final destination and intended end-use of the uranium hexafluoride from Houston, received at Felixstowe on 22 April 1987; and if this material is under safeguards arrangements;

(3) for what purpose natural uranium was imported from Houston to Felixstowe on 15 May 1987; and if this uranium was under safeguards arrangements;

(4) for what purpose yellow cake uranium was imported from Houston to Liverpool on 17 June 1987; and if this material was under safeguards arrangements;

(5) for what purpose natural uranium was imported from Houston to Felixstowe on 24 June 1987; and if this material was covered by safeguards arrangements;

(6) for what purpose yellow cake uranium was imported from New Orleans to Felixstowe on 7 September 1987; and if this material was covered by safeguards arrangements;

(7) for what purpose uranium hexafluoride was imported from New Orleans to Felixstowe on 2 December 1987; and if this material was under safeguards arrangements;

(8) for what purpose natural uranium was imported from Savannah, Georgia, to Felixstowe on 2 December 1987; and if this material was covered by safeguards arrangements.

Uranium imported on the dates specified by the hon. Member was for processing in plants operated by British Nuclear Fuels plc. All material processed by BNFL for civil purposes is under safeguards.
