To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the area of land on the Land Register; and what was the area in 1983.

§ Mr. Trippier
On 29 February 1988 the registers of unused and underused land owned by public bodies contained details of 90,000 acres of such land. At the end of February 1983, details of 108,000 acres were recorded.
