To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans he has to speed up the payment of section 2 moneys due to church school authorities.

My right hon. Friend is aware that there have been delays in the making of orders under section 2 of the Education Act 1973. Officials are considering a number of measures to improve the present regrettable situation.
