§ Mr. GristAs a consequence of the change in guidance issued by the Government in respect of directive 80/778/EEC, officials are now seeking the relevant information from Welsh water authority.
§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if the Welsh water authority will be eligible for grants from the European regional development fund in the run-up to and after plc status.
§ Mr. GristWater authorities will be eligible to apply for grant both before and after privatisation. It is, however, for the European Commission to consider individual applications on their merits.
§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what aid the Welsh water authority has received from the European regional development fund in each year since 1980; and what projects it currently has under consideration for grant application to the European regional development fund up to 1988.

A number of projects are also likely to be brought forward for consideration under the terms of integrated operations programmes which are either under negotiation with the Commission, or in preparation with the local and public authorities concerned.
§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what bonus on salary was paid to the chairman of the Welsh water authority, board members and senior officers in 1987–88; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. GristNo decision on the payment of bonuses for 1987–88 has yet been made. In 1987 both the chairman and chief executive of the Welsh water authority received a bonus based on the authority's performance during the 1986–87 financial year, of 5 per cent. of their actual salaries.
