Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will arrange for a transcript of his interview on the Radio 4 "Today" programme broadcast on 3 March to be placed in his departmental library;

(2) if he will place in (a) the Library and (b) his Department's library a transcript of his interview on "A Week in Politics" broadcast on Channel 4 on 2 March.

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave him on 11 March. Channel 4 programmes remain the copyright property of the production company which produces them and are not available on the open market.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will seek to obtain for his Departmental library a copy of the transcript of the interview given by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation General Secretary, Lord Carrington, to the BBC Radio Four "The World Tonight" programme concerning the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit on 3 March.

The library of the Ministry of Defence seeks to obtain all publications relevant to the working needs and interests of the Department where such material can be satisfactorily published on the open market. Transcripts of programmes transmitted by the BBC are deposited with the BBC written archives centre and are not normally available on the open market.
