To ask the Minister for the Arts if he will place in the Library the terms of the trust deed setting up the South Bank Board as an independent body.

I will place a copy of the trust deed in the Library as soon as it is finalised.

To ask the Minister for the Arts what changes are to be made to the standing and organisation of the South Bank Board.

Mr. Luce

Arrangements are being considered whereby the South Bank Board would become an independent charitable trust, under the terms of the Arts Council's charter, from 1 April 1988. The details are not yet complete but I will advise the House of them as soon as decisions are reached.

To ask the Minister for the Arts when he expects to name the new members of the independent South Bank body; and whom he is consulting.

Mr. Luce

I have asked Mr. Ronald Grierson to continue as chairman of the South Bank Board with effect from 1 April 1988 for a further three years. Arrangements for other members of the board depend on finalising the details of a new independent charitable trust.
