To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if any decision has been taken to substitute a radiologically equivalent amount of higher level wastes for lower level wastes when returning such materials from British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. storage after reprocessing to originators of nuclear wastes in Sweden.

British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. has not entered into any contracts for the reprocessing of material from Sweden since 1976. The arrangements for the disposal of wastes arising from pre-1976 contracts are as set out in the reply given by my hon. Friend the Member for Eddisbury (Mr. Goodlad) to the hon. Member for Great Grimsby (Mr. Mitchell) on 2 May 1986 at columns502–3.
